Rat success

Well tonight was my first successful attempt at feeding Sophia a live small rat. I offered it to her at about 7ish, but she didn't seem interested after giving it a good flick over. So I stuck it in an old mouse cage with some used mouse bedding for a few hours, offered it again and she snatched it up. Everyday I get closer to F/T rats. :)

This saturday Im gonna try again, to feed my BP, now youve got me thinking, maybe I shouldnt offer a maouse at all, just a scented rat. I was gonna offer a mouse first followed by a rat (all F/T) but perhaps scenting is enough.

Congrats! I just got my het BP to take rats with no problem, now just my stubborn older female and a younger male to go! :)

Did yoyu use the switch method(first a mouse than a scented rat)
Or did you use just a scented rat?

For the little guy who has taken one, I used a FT rat scented with dirty mouse bedding. The rat was placed in the bag with mouse bedding, and other FT mice that I was thawing, and he took it first try. Mind you my female I have tried everything on has refused rats for 6 monhts now. :|
