Which is the better choice?
In a recent thread it was stated that females are possibly less picky eaters than males. Is this true?

anyways laters

I prefer females because in my experiences, females are less picky eaters, are a little less nervous, and grow to be larger in size.

less picky eaters? Tell that to MY female bp! She only wants mice. And will only eat mice! lol

Well in my house my females are piggies!! My male is a little picky but not bad, he will only eat 1 item at a sitting though, so I can't give him 2 mice like the girls. If I have to go with mice he will only take one, but he will take 1 med/large gerbil if I have one to offer. My male will also take FK before my girls did, my girls still prefer live restrained or at least still in death throws! LOL. Usually for the girls I have to get it into their feeding container before it stops twitching after I break its neck or they won't take it. THey are getting better now.

I also prefer females. Every single male that I have ever had as a hatchling has been the nippiest meanest little *******. They are EXCELLENT feeders in the beginning since they are so damned nippy and strike at any movement they see, but then once they get a bit bigger they become much pickier and reluctant. Take my het pied male for instance - an amazing feeder for the first few months, and then he was off feed for 3 months before finally taking a meal, whilst my het pied female has been eating spectacularly for the entire time that I have had her.

Out of the X# I have at the moment, my females are better eaters. But only 1/4 of them are males so it's not really a fair comparison.

If you're only going to get one ball python, get one that you like the pattern and color of. The sex won't matter too much. But if you think you might breed someday, get a female first. :)

There's also the size thing, like Mykee said....
