How do you know when to breed balls? Age or size?

Most people go by weight, and around 1500 grams is usually a safe target to aim for before breeding.

Both. Minimum 1.5 years for females and 1500g, and minimum 6-8 months for males and 500g+.

These are MINIMUMS and if you have to ask, then you should probably err on the side of bigger and older.
