I just recently purchased a crested gecko, fire morph. I have read that colour changes indicate changes in mood, but can anyone tell me what indicates what? When I picked him up he was light tan colour, but this morning he has changed to a darker redish orange colouration. Does this mean he is adapting well to his surroundings? or does this mean he is stressed? He seems to be acting normally. the temp is between 70 and 80 and the humidity is just over 70, I know the humidity is not really high enough but I attribute it to the tank being new and the soil is a little dry. I have been spraying it regularly to moisten up the soil ect.

does everything seem fine? or is his colour change showing he is stressed?

thnx!!

A humidity level of 70 is great, Crested gecko's darken when the humidity is higher usually after they have been misted. They are also a lot lighter before the shed, and if the femal is gravid.

There's a big difference in their day and night colouration even if there's nothing wrong, no stress and no illness. At night when they're awake, some of mine don't look like the same animal that was sleeping there earlier.
