can some one tell me how long blue beauties are gravid for and at what temp should the eggs be at. I have only found one source that says they need to be at 83 degrees but any aditional info would be great. Also my male is dog tame is this unusual? from what i understand they are a lot nippy lol. My females sole mission in life is to seperate the flesh from my hands.

They are Rat snakes & follow the same basic rules for breeding & incubation. Low to mid 80's is fine for incubation you can even go into the high 80's but mid 80's is great. Female can be gravid like 4-8 weeks prior egg laying. Its a hard one because you never know the actual conception date even if copulation was observed. Male being dogtame isn't uncommon hes just a good snake, female sounds a little fiesty. Large Rat snakes take a bad rap from lots of people. They are no different than other snakes. Some are pleasant some aren't. The big thing with the VBBs is that they go from little babies to 5-6 ft in the first year. Their size alone is intimidating to a lot of people as they grow. If you just do nothing but throw the food to them they can become aggressive as they go from 1 ft to 6 ft in the period of the year. As with any animal (always exceptions) they will usually calm down over time with careful gentle handling though. Check into basic Rat Snake breeding/incubation & all the info you find will most likely apply. Mine have been breeding for months already & I think my female is just in her prelay shed now. Good Luck with yours. Mark
P.S. I'll trade your Dogtame male for my male Mr. Nasty :p LOL
