What is the best way to measure a snake? I have a paper-like flexible measuring tape that I put along side my snake but she never stays still for long. I get an approximate measure, probably within 2 inches but is there any way to get a more accurate measure?

Get a piece of plastic rain gutter. Tape a meter long measuring tape to the inside of the tray.
Place the snake inside and voila it's streched out next to a tape. You could also let it crawl along a wall to and make two marks onece it's streched out flat against the wall.
Cheers,

Now that is very cool. I must say though that sine breeding is mostly about weight and not length, measure their lentgh has never been a priority for me.

Measuring their weight for breeding isn't very important either. You can tell by looking at an animal if it has adequate condition for breeding or not.

i think i'm going to try that thing on the link. i dont like measuring my snakes cause it was the only way i could think of to do. i'd get a very long string and follow it across the body then measure the string where the snake ended. but id have to hold onto their heads first and they thrash around cause they hate it.
