Hey every one. When one of my mice gave birth, i decided to live 2 to see what color they turn out. http://www.ssnakess.com/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=20177&password=&sort=1&cat=500&page=1
Both of them are just a few weeks old, and the one on the right have twice longer hair then any mice i have ever seeing! Is this a new breed (genetic glitch) or something? :p

What ever it is it's pretty cute. I wouldn't be feeding that to anything. :)

my mouse book says there have been long haired mice available in England since 1966,and "more recently" in North America.
The long hair gene is a simple recessive,so breeding it to a het for long hair will make some long haired mice, but to a regular short hair, youll just get hets, which is what the parents are if youve gotten that one from them.
Yep. Pirranha is correct. Long haired mice have been popular for quite some time. Here is a page with fancy mouse varieties with pics.

If you'd like more long haired mice, breed the babies back to their parents.
