canadian permits

now..before i ask this question, i dont want any people jumping on me with questions on .....how im not experianced with venemous snakes...and ill never be able to own them and personal attacks like that..because ive seen some people ask the wrong question and everyone jumps them....i understand that to own venemous reptiles it takes many many many hours, days and even years of training and even then there r many risks. Im just asking this out of pure interest and i dont plan on owning any venemous reotiles till im out on my own..in a place wer its legal and wer i can legally..if possible get a permit......

my question is....is there any way to get a permit in ontario and if there is what r the stages inwhich to get this permit.

adam, from what ive learned and heard there are no permits. They are illegal in Mississauga, but I think there are other places in ontario where it is not against the by-laws to keep venemous animals.

check your local by-laws, if they are legal, no permits are necessary, if they arent you cant get permits period.

Even if by-laws permit it how do you get one accross the boarder if you can't find what you want in Canada. Also I believe provincial laws do play a role because for example in NB some citys by-laws allow snakes but the province does not allow the importation of certain snakes with out a provincial import permit. So just because his local by-laws may allow venomouse his provincial laws may not allow the importation of certain species of snake.

Yes, in some provinces you need a permit. But not in Ontario. To get them across the border, you'd follow all of the same procedures you need to for any other herps- see the numerous thread on 'importing from the US'.

Where i am from in Montreal Quebec alot of area's of the city you can have a Snake of any sort, as well as a pitbull, carnivorous fish, or even an iguana for that matter let alone a rattlesnake. Where i am in the city (witch is i don't care for your bylaws) I have 2 snow corns, 3 balls, 2 rat snakes, 2 emeralds and two green tree's) not to mention the fish and iguanas.
