is there any way to do that?
I can get the tape, just out of clipsets at the moment. Is there any way I can use the heattape without the clipsets ( making my own ) safely?
Thanks.

i use those little crimp on round ringes. i crimp them onto the end of an extension corn then put the screw through there through the heat tape and into the wood(this would only work witha rack or wood enclosure) i then cover that whole area with hot glue and put electrical tape over the glue.

I also use ring terminals and screws to wire up my heat tape. I bought a bunch of the clips with my first order of heat tape and hated them. 2/3 of the crimps I received were crap and the clips are too bulky. And don't even get me started on those plastic covers! :D
I have also peeled away the layer of plastic and soldered the wire directly to the metal strip. That worked well but it was more work than ring terminals.
***** Of course all of this advice is to be taken at your own risk. These are methods that have worked for me. Use them with caution. ******
LOL on the plastic covers! I did use the clip sets, so can't help you much on that, but I didn't use the plastic covers - just insulated it with electrical tape.
