in a care sheet i recently came across, it said you should feed boas 2-3 f/t every three or four days. i think this is a bit much but i was just wondering what you guys would consider to be the maximum. my BCI feeds readily on 2 adult mice every 5-6 days.

any comments?:medfrown:

2-3 frozen-thawed WHAT? Impossible to say. Pinkies? Rabbits? Iguanas? Goats?

I'm assuming you are talking about Colombians. If you are feeding your Colombian mice at 6 months old you will be having to feed quite a few mice or you have a seriously stunted snake. They can take rats from the moment they are born, so I wouldn't bother messing around with mice because they will not be on them for long. Bci grow fairly quickly. At one year of age most are capable of regularily feeding on large rats. Throughout their first year they can easily take jumbo rats.

my 10mth old hog eats 1 60-100g f/t rat every 5 days and will be switching to 100-150 gramers next shed. Mice are the wrong option for a BCI.

oh right. i was going by what other people had told me but lately the opinion that young BCI should feed on rats seems very strong. i think i will try switching him over next feed.

thanx to all for replying

p.s any suggestions as to what size rats? she is roughly 1.5' - 2'

measure at her fattest point and and multiply that by 1.5 and get a rat that big around. You can go bigger but unless you're fattening it up for breeding there is probably not much point.
