Here is Gabriel, my newest addiction from Vanan (yes, these were the ones Vanan was selling).

He's not too hissy, but if you poke him, he'll rear up and hiss. Quite impressive from a li'l guy like him. In the pic, he's in shed, that's why he looks so "white". He also looks like he has cataracts, but it's just the shed. He got the neatest brown on his face with dots on his labials. He's fun to handle and eats like a mad dog. Grabs his food with a strong strike and drags is all over the place.

I wasn't much of a pit fan, but these black pines of Vanan have really opened up a "pit" in me.

Congrats - glad you are enjoying him. I miss our bullsnake - pits have so much personality! He looks great,

Nice! Black snakes are neat..funny how melanism often results in white chins and labials in so many species. I wonder why.

Neural migration, Roy? Perhaps the chin is a tricky place for melanocytes to travel to during embryo development?

Mary, I picked up two bulls from Vanan, myself and I am enjoying. Seeing Vanan's six footers made me want one, especially the hypo and albino (if the albino doesn't sell that is) which are real pretty. He's a got a nice dark bull that I have my eye on too, but I've got to stop somewhere!
