Couldn't sleep (lost at poker tonight) so I went to the snake room and peeked in on this girl who was at Day 26 after the PLS, and sure enough, there was white globules there! Too tired to pull her off and count, so I'll do it in the morni.....er....afternoon! LOL! Incubator is getting full...........

Cheers,

Jeff F.

She's 18 months old and 5 feet. I'm predicting 14 eggs. Anything more is gravy. Went and checked on her again, and shes abnormally mellow. I think she still has a few eggs to go. They get like that when they're not done. Just like when boas are in a trance giving birth. Kinda fascinating!

Hey Jeff,
I guess it's alright to lose a few games at poker and win a clutch of eggs yeah. Unless you gamble a lot of money....if you sell 14 JCPs....I think that those money that you lost at the poker will definately come back.....LOL~~~

At least I wouldn't mind losing a game of poker and go home and see one of my corn snake lay eggs.......

Congrats on those eggs and man.....if you don't have room I am really going to there to help you out....you know my address~~

A poker player, eh? Maybe we can play a few hands this summer. The anti will be the most valuable snake we each hatch. Cool? ;)

Ha ha, yeah, good way to look at it Simon!

Brian, I only lost $25 so it wasn't all bad! I'd rather play poker with the gang, and one of THEM gets the money, than go to the casino where we ALL just bend over and hand it to them. Know what I mean? LOL!

Thanx guys! Here's a pictorial from this morning when I took her off the eggs! Time for a nap now? Indeed.........

Coiled sooooo tightly. Always feel like a heel taking them off the eggs. Give me colubrids this time of year any day.

Eggs in the nest box. 17 in total. Not bad for 1.5 years old and a first clutch! 2 are hiding in the top-right "clumpy" part.

hehe I'ld love to see that game

"I'll see your 2 hogs and raise you one JCP :)"

Jeff, do they get agressive pulling them off the eggs?

Jeff_Favelle

They are weird when you pull them off. Some strike, but most don't. They hiss a lot, and are very deliberate in their head movements. They are AMAZINGLY strong in their weakened condition as well!

Ha ha Tim, no Womas this year. 2005 brother. ;)

You're feeling BAD for him that he has no room left in the incubator? You are very confused, Scotty. Should be feeling very happy for him. So happy that you might go over there and take a few to give to me. :D Congrats Jeff! Thats a nice looking girl as well. Was the male similar?

Heh heh, that's why I put you to the task to build such big ones!! Ha ha I'm moving into one of your barns next week bro! LOL!

Thanx for the nice words Tammi! You rock! How is the gravid Ribbon doing?

The male was a nice yellow and black. Nothing super-special, but for an old snake, his colours are holding up exceptionally, and no melanin is creeping in!! In the Jungle-world, those are GOOD things. He's a star breeder as well. He'd breed 5 or 6 females if I gave him the chance! He's also old and small. Like 4.5 feet. I feed the crap out him too (like all my snakes), yet he still stays small. Kinda cool. Here's a pic of him:

You're a lucky man, Favelle. Lucky I don't live on the Rock, that is. :P

Hopefully I'll clear out some herp debt this year so I can buy some high red brazilians and some high yellow JCP from ya this year.

Ken, I'm sure we could work out a deal brother! :D

Dom, I could sell about 50 Jungles in Canada retail ($250) and about 80-120 wholesale ($100). I'm not sure where I'm going to sell them this year, and I'm keeping back about 20 to replace all or most of my breeding stock. Last year the bulk of my babies went to Japan. The market in the States is crap. Most of the guys there haven't a clue about international shipping, so everything just gets recycled within their own country and the price drops to nothing. Exporting Jungles to the US would be money drain, ha ha!

But the market here is HUGE. I get anywhere from 3-9 emails per week ALL year round regarding Jungle babies. Its not like expensive Ball Pythons or Boas where there's a finite amount of people willing to drop a couple grand on a morph. Jungles are cheap enough now to attract the pet-store crowd and the casual herper who wants a cool snake, but could care less about breeding. Same with Rainbows, same with Dumeril's, and same with the Hogs. Its pretty much an infinite market. You just have to know where the people are. Remember, because they are the pet-store crowd, they probably haven't heard of shipping, and they most likely don't go on the Internet to find reptiles.

Cheers!
