View Full Version : '02 Jungle corn *pic*
Just snapped some shots and only one turned out ok (:P). He was a keeper from our '02 Jungle breeding (female 50/50 calking and male striped corn). Had the best colour right out of the egg and was the first and best feeder. Still is after 2 years. The female (sister to him) is a tad darker but it'll be interesting to see what comes out from the two whenever they breed (in '04 or '05), due to them being het for stripe. :)

Very interesting how narrow his saddles are and how little yellow there is between them - almost looks like a greenish background color on my monitor. Do you think the narrow saddles reflect the fact that the female was 50/50 pattern? Was she a coastal or desert phase - wondering how much that influences the yellow bands showing up - or if the different background color is related to whether the striped corn came from a lineage that was more Miami or Okeetee like - so whether they had a lot of background orange or not. Lots of questions arise with these crosses and what gets expressed,

Mary, the mom was a desert phase 50/50 and the dad looked like any striped corn I've seen. Mommy did have some yellow (very slight, almost lime greeny) on her chin area, but it's funny how he shows more yellow than her. Could be the corn yellow expressing itself too. He does have thinner than normal jungle saddles. Could be the 50/50 influence? I'm sure we have a pic of the pair breeding. I'll see if I can find it and post it.
Thanks Mark. I was hoping to try using a female corn this time to get jungles but that whole idea was stumped since my only male calking seemed to have gotten himself a lil ill in the head during brumation. It's almost like he's lost some sense of balance as he lays upside down, almost like a dead snakes. Eats fine, but neveretheless, out of the breeding scene. Would love to see the kinda jungles you get this year!
That really is a nice snake, Oh why oh why did I trade him?!
