Ackies are fantastic captives and lots of fun to intereact with and observe. They are best kept in pairs or small groups, in my opinion.
As far as husbandry goes, try reading this first and feel free to ask specific questions after. Don't forget to use your own mind when it comes to monitors, others can only offer so much from the other end of an interent connection ;)

Best wishes,

I have a trio of reds. These are great monitors i perfer them over any larger monitor! I can't say i've ever seen any lizard as fast as them. The crickets don't last long,They are amazing hunters.I think you will enjoy them very much!

They are great lizards and relatively bullet proof. They are best kept in pairs, groups are often hit or miss. The most important guideling to follow when caring for monitors is to observe their behaviour and adjust their environment accordingly. For instance, if your ackie is constantly basking, than you probably have a basking spot with a temp. that is to low. If your ackie is constantly digging in the corners of the cage, you might want to give it more hide options and some deeper substrate.

If you can notice little things like this, it will make all the difference in the world. Read care sheets with a grain of salt, I've seen a lot of bad info.
