Hi,
I'm going to Arizona in a few weeks, I'm hoping to find as many herps (especially snakes) as possible for my photo library. Does anyone have any tips? hotspots? I understand if you don't want to give up any spots (I wouldn't either) but I'll only be taking pics :) Take Care

Depends on where you are going and when. Times are starting to get very active here now. Already have seen a Mountain king, WDB's and garters. Several lizard species, a few rare leopard frogs and canyon tree frogs. Only been out 3 times, and so far so good on herping.

At this time, most diurnal species are plenty and even some nocturnal sightings should be easy to see in the lower elevations. All in all, it is hard to not see anything in this state, especially during the spring like now. This is a good time to check out herps before the heat really kicks into high gear. Depending on where you go, I would just invest a bit of time on what your interested in seeing and what time you have to do so. Should be no problem finding anything. I will give you a hint. Go for walks in the creek beds, even though they are dry. I hardly ever do any road cruising, unless I want to see WDB's which are very plenty here. Hit everything in the early morning and evenings into the night, should have some easy luck with herps.
