Not sure exactly why they do this, but most gravid Pythons seem to enjoy this inverted position
This is a childrens python, still several weeks from oviposition

I think its just a Boid thing. I've only seen Pythons & Boas do it myself, never Colubrids. I think they do it to eliminate any doubts of them being gravid, "Look at my fat belly" LOL
Yeah "Belly up" isn't always a bad thing eh Roy LOL My Childrens hasn't left her nesting box since I gave it to her last week & looks like a prelay shed for her right away WOO HOO! Good Luck with yours, Mark I.

Horray! That spotty is really pretty, I love her eyes. I've actually seen my _male juvie_ bp sit like that for a couple hours once. Hehh... I think he might be slightly confused. But good luck with those girls, they're very pretty.
