OK, Tiki is in his new enclosure. I think I went a little overboard. He is in the top of a 2 cage unit I picked up. Each cage is 3' high, 3' wide, and a little over 2' deep with douple pane insulated glass front and side opening doors. Not my first choice of door placement, but what do ya want for $40 I wired it up with a Florescent on the X10 system timers and a standard fixture with a black light for 24 hour heat (I am getting a bulb cover tomorrow). Warm perches are at 85, cool sposts are at 77-78. He has 5 horizontal perches. The two lowest ones are over the water bowl. several perching areas have plant cover if feels reclusive. The door opens on the right, the vent holes are drill on the left side. I think I may add more vents on the back or the right side to get better circulation. And it holds humidity like a champ. Most of the GTPs that I have dealt with in the past were for resale, this is the first one to be a permenant part of the collection. Any ideas on improving the enclosure are encouraged.

Nice cage! I think it looks perfect just like that, and since humidity and heat is holding up then it IS perfect really! :) Lucky GTP

So...the big question..... why this guy? lol :D

Looks awesome. I like the look of the torch-roasted PVC. Have you seen the thread that showed that? With the natural wood cage, I think naturalistic perches would top it off. So what's the story on how you got it for $40?

Why this guy getting the cage or why keep him? ;) Oddly enough, I have an overabundance of caging right now. At the moment, I have empty: the other 3x3 arboreal, two 2' cages, two 4' cages, and a 6'x3' deep cage. I am giving back the cage that he came. Why keep this one? I have been admiring him for quite a while in someone elses collection. I used to do a great deal of jobbing (buying to resell to shops), so most of the ones I had were for a fairly quick resale. When you have to get a 6 lot of GTPs at a time, it strains your finances and I could not just hold back on them for my collection. I know i was selling the hell out of them for twice what I payed. No telling what shops were selling them for. But a while back, I realized that I had never actually bred them or kept them for a long period of time. I have been meaning to for years, and I finally got the chance.

Just one of those "right time, right place" deals. The guy was moving, and I happened to be there. He never even got around to sealing it so it had never had a snake in it. The thing is about 7.5' tall and weighs close to 800 pounds. I never wnat to have to move that thing again and because it is so tall, I can't put casters on it. There are a couple things I don't like, side opening doors for example, but I could not turn it down. The glass was worth that much.

Sweet! I do love the green snakes of the world.

Just one thing i noticed...is the heat source unguarded? For such a fine animal i would take no chances with thermal burns and (maybe?) the chance of electrocution.

Could you provide a bit of detail in regards to the heated perches? Neat idea! Do you have heated water circulating through them or elctrical cable heating? Reasoning behind it?

Thats a great set-up. Very creative. Is it safe to have the light bulb accessible?
