i fed my albinoa rat pup (dead) amnd when i checked on him in the morning i liftd the paper( he hides) he removed it quickly from his mouth. My guess is it was too large and he was trying to eat it still.

If it was too large he wouldnt keep trying to eat it, he probably just started and when you checked he got freaked out.
