are stink pots available in the U.S.?

Certainly. There are thousands collected annually and they often sell for $5-$10 each. Often these specimens are not in good health once they get to you. I had a supplier give me one for free once because it was in such bad shape and he didn't want to take it back with him from the show. Not surprisingly, it died. There are also captive bred specimens available now from a variety of breeders. They're usually not very expensive ($15), and I'll go that way myself when I get more.

thank you for the info, i had one that i had caught at marsh creek
and he lived with me for about 7 yrs then he died one day, but he was really neat cause i had him in a tank with a big cichlad called a black convict and they used to play all the time it was really neat watching them so ive been looking for 2 yrs for another one
at different pet shops but have never found one.
