View Full Version : my bp doesnt want to eat anymore...what to expect??

its been one month since im trying to feed him.. he has been a really great feeder on mice before but now..since he his on rats..he stopped..im gonna try to make him eat a mouse tomorow and I will give him a rat after ( I hope he is gonna take it)
anyways..if he is really in a unfeeding period..what should I worry about..any precautions about the temp, humidity, etc..any tips? thx

PO, i would just let him be... leave him alone for another couple of weeks, if you dont see a dramatic loss in weight he will be fine. Male BP's are notorious for going off feed this time of year. Leave your temps etc at what they normally are and in a couple of weeks try again! :) the only one going to be stressed during his hunger strike is you! :) he'll be fine.

I have two pair of balls and in my experience Jeff is bang on the money. Like the Ball Python Manual says, as long as the snake is healthy going into a fast and has good weight then don't worry about it. They can go for extended periods of time with out food. I once had a LTC female that like clock work would stop feeding in Sept and not eat again until June. I once wieghed her in March and she was 2100g's not bad for a fast of 7 months.
