Keep guessing folks......I'm not going to say whether your guess is right or wrong yet, Linds. I'll try to encourage a few more people to give it a go before I enlighten you all :)

Jeff, that's the best part about Dwarf Monitors; beauty, entertaining, and social preditors all in a small package. The species pictured above doesn't exceed 24" total length (most of which is tail). In fact, these guys are the largest of the varanids that I currently keep :)

.......oops! i almost gave away the game! i had typed a long message saying how i was right or wrong, and linds was right or wrong and, well, i had to erase it, because i didn't want to mees up the game for everyone else!!! ok, i just had to erase the begining now too, because, though i thought it would be fine to leave, it turns out it kinda would have given away the answer. ok, everything i type i just have to erase, so i'm gonna stop now! bye, and, i'll just say this... don't guess the same as me!!!

naja - Wow, that's a confusing post you have there. There is nothing to give away, it's a game, you're either correct or incorrect, give your honest opinion :)

So far we have quite a list of guesses though and no two the same......interesting ;)

Last chance for guesses folks! I'll give away the answer and show who is right/wrong tomorrow sometime (when I have a chance to play online).

Well all, I'm not sure I'll have a chance to get online tonight so I'll answer the riddle now.

The pic is of a Freckled x Blackheaded Monitor (<i>Varanus tristis orientalis</i> x <i>Varanus tristis tristis</i>).

<center><img src="http://www.niagarareptiles.com/temp/MVC-001F.JPG"></center>

The one I used for the picture is a female that actually shows more characteristics of <i>V. t. orientalis</i>. These are very pretty monitors, and I can never seem to capture their true beauty on camera.

Thank you all for playing and I'll make up another one after the weekend for you all to have a stab at again :)
