Despite the fact that this topic has been covered extensively, I had an experience today that caused me to reflect upon the importance of having good training with hots before ever bringing one home. I was going through my daily routine, and as I used a hook to open a breeder bin a young C. atrox jumped out at the hook. If that had been my hand, I would be in the hospital right now, rather than typing on my computer. This wasn't an unusual occurence, and that is why I always use a hook to slide sweater boxes open. This was one of the first things I learned when training to work with hots. It is something that is simple to do, and has completely become habit for me, however, I would not have known to do this in the first place if I had not had formal training. In fact, I can even remember the first time I saw my trainer open a breeder rack with a hook. This is in NO way a how-to comment on keeping venomous snakes, simply a reminder to all those herpers that consider venturing into hot-keeping as to just how important it is to have extensive training before ever bringing home that first little hot. Just my two-cents, guys.

Opening a sweate box of Balls or Corns sure aint like opening one with a hot living in it.. by the way was that one of my Atrox. or are you still crying to cold to cold....

Now that I think about it, Another reason I dont use stuff like that..
Either way, it would be common sense to use a hook or something of the sort to open anything that contains a hot and you cant see the animal..
I thought you only had two WDBs? Or was there a change where Im only getting one, now?

To straighten things out for the two of you, that was one of the atrox that is going to live with xain, scott. sorry. yours should be around very soon, as the weather is really starting to heat up around her...be patient. Oh, by the way Xain, yes, you still get two. Don't whine. pfff...babies.

I could hold a carrot over your head but i think a pigmy is more likely to get a responce lol...Now you know i am not worried about getting atrox. Lepidus however we will talk :)
I, for one, believe that anyone named scott should most certainly part with any large S.m.barbouri that josh feels he needs...especially any extremely large females, even if they are dear to scott. This should be done as an act of good faith for josh agreeing to come see scott. Thats just my opinion.
