Yay, my BP just ate

Last year she was off-feed from Oct-June, so I am excited that she just ate again, having only been off-feed since January. Not only that, but it was a rat. She was on mice last year, and I offered her her first rat in January. She took it right away but it was her last meal, and I wasn't sure if she'd go for a rat for her first meal back, but she didn't even hesitate & took it the second I dangled it in front of her. Such small things we get excited about...:)

the first time mine went on fast i offered a ft rat a day after her shed and she took it straight from live mice to f/t rats. good for you

Congrats! Ours have been off feed for about 4-5 months now, so, I'll be just as excited when my 1.1 pair finally eat for me. :D

what do you guys mean when you say "off-feed" Your snakes are not eating for 4 months? is that normal? my bp eats everytime i feed it.

MOST ball pythons will stop eating in October-November, and begin again in March-April. This is normal, and if the ball is in relatively good health, will not affect them at all. Conversely, some balls that are under a year will not go through this off-feed period during their first winter. They do this generally to prepare for mating.
Also, you probably just jinxed yourself by saying your ball eats every time. Good luck with that.
