Snapped a couple of pictures of our red hognose snakes. They have brightened up considerably since I last took pictures, and are looking very nice. I did not alter the colors, and this is a pretty decent representation of what they look like in real life, but of course I think they look nicer in real life and tht the pictures don't do them justice.
This is the female

And the male

The snakes thank everyone for the complements, especially yours Roy.
Richard Evans from albinohognose.com has seen the pictures and he says they look very much like his hypos except that his have no black on the belly, and ours are almost completely black on the belly, without checkering.
The female is only 20'' long, but eating and growing well, so I think I will wait until next year to attempt breeding her. We have an older normal female that is 32'' - but she is very very old, won't be breeding. We have another normal female, about 23'' long and quite thick - but I think I am going to save her for another male hoggie, next year when she is bigger - rather than pair her up with the red male.
Roy, I just measured the females today - what age and size do you wait for? We got them as tiny babies in late 2001.

Roy, I will be waiting till next year to breed any of my hoggies, thanks for the input.
Jeff - I'm not sure how they can't be hypos either, kind of - but they have black bellies, and I would not think a true hypo of anything would have black bellies.
They are pretty, and getting nicer with each shed.
Ryan
Those are the nicest hognoses i have ever seen!! The 'normal' ones were growing on me, but WOW, those are just incredible!!

Well, they may not be hypo's, but they ARE definitely gorgeous! Easily as nice as the true hypos.
Beautiful animals, guys.
Good luck with them.

Toirtois, we will be at Edmonton as spectators in the spring. I could show them off at the Red Deer show, but that would be cruel to all the Albertans that can't keep them.
O.k, so maybe I will.
Simon, about time you looked at pictures of snakes of mine and liked them, the shoe is on the other foot for once, eh.
Ryan
Wow! Those are craaaazy! :D

You can placate them by selling baby tri-colours, which they can have.:p
