my hognose has only ever shown agression to me 3 times in the 3 years i'v owned him. he bit me out of anger once, was just a quick tiny bite, no fangs. once he got sick, something was wrong with his nose but while waiting for the day to take him to the vet he was quite agresive...when i came in the herp room he would start hissing and hiss the whole time. the ride to the vet was crazy too, he hissed the entire time and constatly struck at the sides of the containor.
then there was last night, i had to put water in his bowl and his neck flattend. i started opening the cage and he started hissing, he even stood up with his hood hissing, it was adorable. he did strike at me but i think it was with mouth closed.
later that night i took my camera out in the room, i was hoping to get a shot of him with him all cobra like if he was still in that mood. i usually have to dig through his sand for about 5 minutes to find him, once i did he was his usual sweet self, i pickd him up and he didn't care.
does any one have crazy hogs like mine?

ya, when I go to feed mine, all he does is hiss n' hood. lol. After a few min, he got the idea that it was food (Only second time he ate with me, but every other attempt he did the same thing.)

I startled him the other day to, I think I woke him up, as soon as I picked him up he did the "death roll" thingie, where he turned on his back, musked ( pooped to  ) and his mouth opened and his tounge came rolling out. But as soon as he realized it was only me, he calmed down, turned over, and started crusing through my fingers like nothing happened. Except there was musk all over the place!

lol, their playing dead defence is the cutest. mine did that the day i bought him. it was hours after he was in his new cage and i wanted to check on him but had to dig around in his dirt. once i pulld him out and he was in my hand he rolled over, mouth open, tongue poped out but it only lasted a second and he rolled back over. hes never muskd on me

lucky you, it stinks really bad!
it is cute though but i know it stresses them out, so i put him back as soon as he rolled back over.

My female hog ALWAYS wants to hurt me, shes absolutly INSANE, my male is a bit moody, but usually docile and inquisitive.

if you put a snake back after it musks on you, chances are it will do it the next time because it knows that it works,
if you dont put it back it wont do it again (somtimes)

The ony reason he musked was because I startled him. He hasn't done it since, and I doubt he will do it again (unless I startle him again)
