what size should my ball be so i can feed him a rat.he is 2 and a half at most

go with a rat 1 to 1 1/2 times the size of his girth (fattest part of his body). My ball is about 30'' and he took a medium rat for me last night.

They don't need to be a certain size to eat rats, it's the other way around. Match the food size to the snake. If you can find hopper or weaned rats, your ball python should be able to manage that with ease. :)
