well I am almost ready to pick up my first ball
it is beautiful, very dark black and golden tan, I'm pumped

I have been reading care recommendations at www.ballpython.ca and am planning to make the enclosure to their specs, but please tell me if these are incorrect or correct

hot:90 degrees
cool:75-80

humidity: low ambient w/ humid hide

I just want to make sure these are right before I get the snake

I would put the cool side at 80-82

make sure you have two hides, and you only need a humid hide if in shed.

good luck

If you keep the humidity around 50% when NOT in shed and give it a humid hide when IN shed you should be fine. Also hot spot can be 90-95, and cool side 80-85.

Read more than one caresheet on BP's. I have to have read more than 20 and still don't know everything I want to know about them.

Though Mark's caresheet is top-notch, I would definitely reccommend reading a couple more just to get some varied opinions. I would also reccommend picking up a book or two on the captive husbandry of ball pythons. A good reference book can be worth it's weight in gold to a beginner. Good luck.

Sapphire; only 20? (I'm just joshing).

I have been reading up on w.hognose lately.....I'm sure more than that though! lol.......I've read personal web site, professional web site, and natural history web sites...

Don't confuse me like that. I thought you were talking about my age, and I'm like "how did you know that?" lol

lol, Ok, you must have tons of money to be flying to kansas AND ohio every day! Think of the snakes you can buy with that after like 2 months of saving that money! lol :)

Sapphire, you know that airflow tube-delivery system that old offices used to employ for delivering mail around the office? I've built a giant one, big enough for humans, and have it hooked up to most major cities in North America.
