meat flavor baby food?

anyone try meat(beef) baby food for their hatchlings? i am going to try some tonight with my tiny guy. he does not want the fruit, yet. maybe i'll mix some fruit with the meat. plus, i have been adding the CGD b/c i want him/her to accept it as a young adult and adult.

Well, he/she hated it. the smell was pretty strong, and i mixed it with some apple to make it smell better, but he/she still did not want it. but i got it on it's nose and it was licking so it got a few mouthfulls before shaking it's head and waking away. I love this hatchling, he/she never wants to leave my hand, and is not jumpy or nutty. i hope to have this one hand-tamed.

If you can get the baby to eat CGD, there's no absolutely no need for the meat babyfood. Besides, it's much more expensive. when compared to CGD and especially when you take into account that baby food has a 24 hour shelf life, once it's been opened.

If you're mixing Crested Gecko Diet into their babyfood, you may want to go with Gargoyle Gecko diet instead, due to the higher protein content. The higher protein content will help balance out the high sugar content of the fruit baby food.

Allen Repashy, John Mack, Philippe DV and several other large scale ciliatus breeders actually give their babies Gargoyle Gecko Diet, because of the higher protein content.

Not to mention that it's GROSS :P

I tried chicken babyfood once, and after once use I put it in the fridge and it went mouldy...yuck. If I use babyfood, it's berry, banana (careful with bananas [evil potassium]) or peach...and I freeze it after.

I actually gave in and bought the Crested Gecko Diet and its awesome...they eat it by themselves if I leave it in a dish in their enclosure, the next morning there's 'lickies' in it :D

they eat fruit in the wild, it would make sense that they only recieve fruit based baby food. that is all i ever give mine (eg bannana, mixed fruit, apricot, etc) you are also to ensure the side of the baby food states that there is no add sodium. i use heinz with crickets. i have never tried the crested gecko diet. i did use the zoo med day gecko diet but found my phelsuma did not enjoy it for very long
