Hey, I'm just wondering how long you can keep f/t feeders frozen, will they eventually go bad sitting in the freezer ??any advice would be great, thanks,
Devon
How are you storing them in the freezer? Just like a steak, or any other freezer item, its all about how you store it.

Pinkies and fuzzies will not last as long due to the lack of insulating coat. Vacum-sealed items will last years while loosely wrapped items may only last months.
I am wondering what anyone thinks of the suggestion to freeze rodents IN water? I have heard a couple people say this would prevent freezer burn altogether? But it sounds like a pain too me.

Yeah, I've seen it mentioned a fwe times recently as well. It does make sense that it would prevent freezer burn since freezer burn is caused my moisture being lost through the skin, but I agree with you, it seems like an awful lot of hassle, in addition to which it would likely take up a lot more space. The only items I keep that stay in the freezer for a length of time are rabbits, I don't even know how I would be able to freeze them in water and still fit them in my freezer. A thin layer would break off fairly easy, and 50 pounds of rabbits uses up all the available space in a small overhead freezer on their own  The whole idea of it, even for small items, sounds like so much bother to me...

linds how long can pinkies last double bagged in the freezer?
I've never tried double-bagging, only single bagged. I would suspect not much more than 3 months though. Hopefully someone that uses this method will be able to give you a more concrete answer.

The time food can be safely frozen depends on what you're freezing it in. A 'real' freezer will be much colder than a 'top of the fridge' freezer. Food in a fridge freezer should be used within 3 months max, a deep freeze can safely store food for close to a year (some variation depending on the type of food). Since we're basically talking meat here, I'd say no more than 2 months in a fridge freezer, and maybe 10 months in a deep freeze, all assuming they're packaged properly.
