i aquired a baby albino burm about a month ago. she was feeding on frozen mice when i first got her but right after she shed, she seem to not even care about the frozen mice any more so i was forced to buy her live mice every 3 days which she ate with out hesitation. she currently eats 3 adult mice every 3 days which is kinda heavy on my budget. what can i do to lure her back to feeding frozen mice? should i just starve her until she she's hungry enough to not care if the food is live or not?

Hey Cyrus.

Have you tried using tongs and simulating the movement of the mouse? How about Rats? Have you even tried f/t rats? You could try braining a f/t mouse....

Like Don sad, try tease feeding. Also, make sure your thawed prey still has some warmth to it. I was feeding a baby Columbian boa that wouldn't eat until I reheated his rat, which he grabbed as soon as he sensed it. Might work for your burm.

OR you could prekill the rat...so its fresh! Or buy a live....and let the f/t sit with the live...

Bartman, braining is when u cut open the skull exposing some of the brain.

I just been through the same thing with my het female. Tease feeding is good if you don't already do it. I had to let my female get really hungry for a while and then I started her back up first on live and couple of times, the I offered live off tongs, the fresh killed. Worked like a charm. Let the snake get good and hungry first though, and offer a f/t to see if she takes it. If not try what I did.

i did try the tong trick still didnt work before. the mice i feed her is pretty warm since i defrost it in warm water. havnt tried the brain trick tho... never heard of that but worth a try. at least i have a caiman as a garburator if my snake doesnt eat the mice lol. if all tricks fail i guess ill just try to starve her for a bit even tho i dont want to... thanx for all the help and the little tricks

Yeah, take a f'/t and put it in the same cage with a live mouse (with the bedding) for 15-20 minutes until it is smelling really mousey. This has worked for me. Also, this may seem strange but I once had a speckled king that would only eat black mice and was afraid of white ones.
