Vailed Chamelion Breeders??

Hi, just new to site & new to the world of chamelion. However, reading from some others here some people post that chamelions are not friendly. We have had our chamelion now since Jun 03. It had to be 3 mths when we bought her. Our chamelion is very friendly & will sit on my shoulders/head. My question is my chamelion is currently laying eggs as I write. How do I get a mate for my chamelion & when do I introduce him to her? Thanks in advance, RocnDJ

hmm yes veiled chameleons are usually meen, but females arnt as meen as males. But its rare to get a friendly veiled chameleon, before you think about breeding, see what your getting to, a lot of people who breed do not make a lot of profit, well they make none, i shouldnt say even a little. How do you get a mate, get one from a reptile show;) ugh introducing some people do it different ways, someone would put the female in the males cage or the other way around, its all in your opinion.

of course peopel make money off of it. people make livings. as soon as u have all teh euip and dotn mind building stuff one clutch can make u a coupel grand 5 6 hundred depending on type of chameleons.

Personally i think it is sad that people can breed there veilds and selll them all off for less then $50 each soo many of them die in the first year of life and it is very sad. If u decide to breed which is your choice, your going to need a male who will most likely be grumpy, he will have to be more them about 10 months old your probably going to want him to be a year. When the female is ready but her in the males inclosure he should display go to her and mount her, she should just let this happen, if she is not ready she can do some of these things, display, hiss, gape, possibly attack the male if you let them too close. I have seen too many veilds suffer i just dont think its a good idea to breed veilds to make money.

Thanks everyone for your comments. I am not planning on making a living or for that matter any money. I just like to raise a couple. And, maybe give them away to friends & family. Telling them the risk of course.

Sometimes you can find a mate at a show or on the internet. My first time with a mating, I found my female a internet boyfriend and we went to his house. Now he just happened to be a local well known breeder with a beautiful male specimen. We worked out an agreement that all the eggs were my property. This way all I had to do was care for the babies and the mom, and once the babies were gone.....well I was down to just one again.

So I guess my point with that story is that if you can borrow a mate instead of buying one, then you can experience that fun of breeding one time. More chams = more time taken out of your day, double the equipment...etc.

Now for breeding, you will want to save up tonnes of money, cause if you're not ready when they hatch, you will want to sell them as quick as possible and at too low of a price. YOu'll need containers to keep them in, UVB lights for each container..blah, blah,blah.

Just some thoughts.

Is there anybody on this site who has a male that would like to mate with my female? Somebody from "SuperPets" told me that I should now wait till late summer to mate as this has taking to much out of my cham since its her first time.? Any thoughts?

Also, everyone is talking about "Shows" I am not sure I have ever heard of any show in Toronto? Where & when is their going to be another one????

Also id wait till your girl is about a year old and has at least laied one clutch of eggs first. That way your wont compromise her growth and over all health. Id also wait untill u have more experienc with your cham b4 u decide to have babies. Just make sure u know what your getting into with babies and your doing it for the right reasions.

Oh and i do have a male is is quite grumpy and if u give me a really good reasion why your breeding her id lend out his ummm "services" lol
