We are looking forward to attending the Edmonton show for the first time this year, and getting to know more of the people we have only seen in Red Deer in the last couple years. We have already made some good friends in the Edmonton area that we are planning to visit with as well.

Sheila - really glad to hear you guys will be at the Edmonton shows - the focus in the past has been as much on public education as on herp sales - so the extensive display that you have will be very welcome.
It will be hectic with TARAS one weekend and Edmonton the next. Make sure you let the organizers know early to book tables for you - it is quite a small hall.
Look forward to seeing you there,

Ok, i was thinking out attending this show. I was wondering what to expect. I've never been to a show. I am looking into getting a female leopard gecko. Are the shows really worth going to?? I

Mary,
We will probably come as spectators to the Edmonton spring show, with plans to attend with a display in the fall. Our display is large, and we want to make sure it will be an asset to the show. We have no plans to set up the display in Calgary, we have other plans for the weekend that involve less work and more fun. We will drop in to say hi to our friends, but have decided to save the display for other events.

The shows are great fun. There are usually lots of animals for sale; snakes like corns, kings & some pythons & boas. There are always leopard geckos and a few other lizards like bearded dragons. I have seen frogs and other amphibians, Chameleons too. There are display animals, the most impressive being Isabeau, the 18 foot - 180 lbs Burmese python.
Reptile shows are a unique experience, if only because you get to meet so many people who love reptiles (and are not afraid of them)
It's a long way to come from Saskatchewan so you might want to plan some other stuff to do while you are here.

We get to Edmonton several times a year, I have some family and we both have friends in the area. Its only 6 hours from here, which is a long drive for some people, but not for us. (Some people wont leave their own home town for an event) There is never enough time to see everybody, with so much to see and do there. We are looking forward to the spring show, to get a chance to see people we would otherwise miss seeing during one of our road trips.
