When I trip out all the "guts" are there any chemicals I need to worry about?
Thanks,

Freon can't be all that bad, now can it?

Well I forgot to come back and check and went a head and cut the lines on the compressor anyway. Next thing there is this hissing sound coming out of it. I held my breath cut the other side and ran outside with it.
So far so good except for the blood under my fingernails.
Cheers,

I hope you recovered that freon 22 for proper disposal.(har har) You know it's illegal to let it into the atmosphere... But it was an accident right ??:)

freon isn't bad for you, but it wreaks havoc on the ozone layer. You should always pinch those lines as much as you can (clamp them down) before cutting, then fold them over on themselves immediately after cutting.

Turns out that since it is a newer fridge, 97 that there is no freon. Oh well I guess I'll go burn some styros or something!
Thanks,
Trevor
