Ask this question......... Who here has been stung by scorpions, and by what species????? I have been stung by Emps, Red claws C.exillicauda(arizona barks), C.vittatus (texas barks), C.hentzi, C.gracilis, Flatrocks, but the worst by far was from Parabuthus trans. (black thicktailed spitting scorp)..... Suprizingly enough the stings I have gotten from the arizona bark scorpions were not bad at all........ C. vittatus stings hurt pretty bad but subsides pretty fast....... The stings I have recieved from Parabuthus were very painful and the pain did not go away completely for a few days...... One sting was particularly bad....... It was from a 4 inch female.......... I had pain almost all the way up to my shoulder..... And it was almost instant....... Scorpion venom plays havoc on your pain receptors........ I know that getting stung is nothing to brag about and should not be the norm, but when you deal with scorps by the hundreds its alittle hard to avoid.......LOL....... Just wanted to hear some other experiances with scorpion stings......

I saw some guy who worked at a petstore once who was pretty dumb. I asked him if scorpian stings were bad for you, like venemous anything like that so hes like no and hes like look, he takes the scorp tail and pushes the needle into his hand and hes like see nothing happens...wonder what kind it was

not yet...but I don't think pandinus imperator or hadogenes spp. are inclined to sting...but more so pinch....
I'd like to get a tailess scorp...I don't remember the correct name but I saw one at a reptile store and it was cool looking...very long legs and round flat body...I wouldn't know it was a scorpion if I wasn't told....looked more like a giant tick!lol

Near Leader, the native scorpions are Paruroctonus boreus, the northern scorpion.

The first one I saw was found by Jordan, while out from Ontario. I had probably seen them before, just did not recognize them because of they way it was "playing dead". Looked like a dead bug.

I got a picture of the one that stung me. I was "corraling" it with my hands, while on my shins.

It came towards my inner thigh, and stung me. All you could hear me say was "The Jewels!"

I ended up getting quite swolen in the area, and my face even puffed up a bit. My mother, who happened to be along looking for rattlesnakes luckily had some antihistamine in her purse (she has everything in her purse) and after taking some I was able to continue the day looking for rattlesnakes and blackwidows.

That was an allergic reaction you had Ryan...... Normaly there is not much swelling with a scorpion sting....... And the species you were tagged by are pretty much on the lower end of the toxicity range, especially compared to some of the species I talked about above.......

LOL....... Its ok big man we all have our weaknesses.......LOL...... It just so happens you cant take a scorpion sting......:P LOL...... Start training to keep hots yet????? I have to come up and check out your place......... Maybe we can go catch some praries........ By the time I get up there they will probably be in summer dispersal........ I suck...... I have been stung about 20 or so times by my 1" emp and 1once by my asian forest scorp. The emp sting was always "dry" as you may call it but the asian sting gave me abit of a swelling for about 20 mins and a little red dot but nothing serious. My asian forest scorp is about 3-4" long.
