That's got the be the cutest snake face!
The more I read about these guys, the more I'm getting hooked. So much for my original idea of only having 3 or 4 snake species. Pictures like yours don't help my self control at all. LOL

I know Jen, i know. I do have a few different species other that than miks. I just had to give into the hype. These guys are really neat. I don't know much about them but everyone else seems to so i figured i could get lots of help if i need it.
sapphire_moon: I'm not sure what you mean? This pair is feeding on pinkie mice every couple days with no problems according to the breeder. Is there something i should know?
Thanks,
Brian

Mine feed like velociraptors, they ate today. The female gaot mad at me while she was eating and struck at me with the pink in her mouth! IT WAS HILARIOUS. Classic are yours moody, mine seem to change tempers every five minutes! Good luck with them, they are a wonderful species

I just got them home today. I will get back to you on that.
They look like little characters though. I'm taking a liking to them quick.
Brian
Very nice light colours on them!

it looks as if you have a small smount of aspen in their enclosure (if that is their enclosure) I find that deep substrate helps your hogs acclimate easily, b/c they are burrowers. Mine have tunels that run from one side to the other in every wich way, its really cool. they duck down a hole, and peek out another in a matter of seconds. just food for thought.

Trev, I think i am taking a liking to them. I know Dave is going to be disapointed though. The Portland show is coming up soon.

Mine's being real picky.
It's like he bites into the pink (it is f/t) and rips it's belly open trying to eat it, then gets discouraged, and just doesn't eat because the guts have come out. lol.
I am going to try a live pink, see if they won't tear as easily as a f/t. If not I am going to try the lizard maker.
When I put him in his bowl to eat he is fine, When I go to drop in the f/t pink with the tongs he puffs up and hisses!
Then if I go to check on him say 3-4 hours later, the very second I open the top (his head is usually near the top as well) he puffs up and hisses!
Although it is cute, I don't want to stress him. By this time though the pink is usually shredded!
So I don't know why he isn't eating. He is VERY active. He has his tunnels, deep substrate, he has flattened the sides though, as he crawls mostly around the edges and tunnels in the middle.
Any advice?

Trev: I definately intend to take advantage of the short while i have back here in the maritimes. I'm going for sure. We need to make some plans.

Hey saphire moon, try holding the pink with tongs so that it is facing him head first. If you bug him enogh he may strike at it to warn it, this might clue him in on that it is food, and may take it head first.
I have NO experience in the colubrid fasting as my Hogs will jump out of my hand to get the pink in their tray! dont mean to brag, but mine are absolutly DANGEROUS feeders, i cant wait till they can breed. GOOD LUCK ON YOUR LITTLE GUY

I have tried that, but all he does is puff up and burry his head under himself (frickin chicken!)!! But I might try it with the live one.
I don't know what I am going to do if he won't eat. He seems to be growing in length but not width and I am starting to get worried :(
Jeeze the way things are looking by this time next year I will be looking for a new w.hog

If we leave this state, we are not coming back. So you'd better be prepared to house a whole lota animals and us! j/k lol.
I'll try leaveing a live pink with him for a few hours, if that don't work I'll try the tease feeding, if that don't work I'll sit down and cry for a few hours then go get some lizard maker. lol
