View Full Version : my kingsnakes face is red:(
I have no clue what this could be but his and his sisters face are red. I am certain my temperatures are ok, they are both eating fine. I clean their enclosures once a week and "tidy" them every day. any ideas?
Here's a pic

The snake is in opaque. Does it look like that when not in shed? Is it shedding more frequently than normal? Some snakes will exhibit a pinkness at the onset of ecdysis.
So how long has this been going on? Is this the first time you've seen it? Is that pink hue anywhere else or only on the snout?
I noticed it a week ago and thought it may be because of shed
it is still there after he shed but it is not as intense.
he literally shed right after i posted that last post
(the pic is from a few days ago)
My female has the same thing
about an hour after he shed the pink went down a lot. I will check it tomorrow but thanks anyway

Yness: Are you using newspaper on the floor. The ink can easily rub off. Can it be something you have in the enclosure like a clay pot maybe.

I too think it could be rubbed off of something in the enclosure maybe. Its on the snakes snout & it is in shed, so its probably been rubbing its face off of items in its enclosure trying to "free itself" of its old skin. ? Mark

Yness, now that it has been a couple days and they have shed, is the red still there? Got any more pics?
