View Full Version : Is my Mex Black on track size wise?

Sunday I bought a Mex Black at the reptile expo. The breeder said he was born 7/03. I got him home and he weighed 24 grams, is about 1/4 inch thick. didn't measure, but I'd guess a foot - maybe more. He eats FT fuzzies weekly.

Keep in mind I'm used to my Ball Python and Kenyan, so I'm unfamiliar as to what's a proper size. I feed him last night and he ate no problem - love the idea that the breeder feeds FT.

Is he about the right size for his age? Should I increase his feedings to every 5 days or leave it at once a week?

Thanks

One or two food items every 5-7 days is fine. I'm sure about the size of yours but if you're feeding him properly, he'll be just fine. :)

Check out this post.....http://ssnakess.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=37999 It should tell you all you need to know about how variable snakes growth rates can be.

Thanks! I feed him a fuzzy last night and he took it no problem. He's just so tiny compared to my Ball Python and Kenyan Sand Boa who are only 1 month older. It's kind of hard sometimes since I've never seen these snakes full grown or even know how small they are when born to know that he is growing.

I've decided to name him "Indigo" - just to be funny.
