Plywood thickness

well I'm finally going to get started on my enclosures but I cant for the life of me remember the plywood thickness. I tried a search but came up blank. the enclosures will be between 4 and 6X2X2. and similar in style to the ones Hetforhuman posted though I may try one verticle to see how my JCP likes it

im not sure but i think 3/4 inch is whaty most seem to recommend.

I copied het for human's thing and his said 5/8

I was gonna try to save a few bucks and go with 1/2, but I went with 5/8, I think 5/8 iis necessary so that it can be screwed together with some integrity

Iv'e done 1/4,1/2 and 5/8 and 5/8s has been the best so far. 3/4 or one inch would be great other than the cost andweight.

5/8 inch, unless you are building a HUGE Burm/Retic/Boa/Anaconda cage. Then I would go with 3/4. You can get away with 1/2 for the Carpet, but it will warp and bend and not look as nice. Just as functional though. But the saving would be minimal.

cool thx guys. I wasnt sure if the 5/8" het used would apply to plywood as well as he was using particle board. warping was my main concern.

It won't warp if you build it right. The way I build my cages is, the side walls and the back wall sit on TOP of the base, not screwed into the side... this way the 3 walls become the load-bearing walls, and you can stack things on top of them. And, since the back is holding up the top piece, it's impossible for it to bow in the middle.
