Hi, I am designing and building a breeding rack for leopard geckos. I would like between 10 and 14 breeding units. Any suggestions would be nice but I am especially wondering about ways to heat it. Thanks

Melamine racks, rubbermaid bins, and Flexwatt heat tape...thats the best and easiest

What Uncle Roy said. That seems to be the standard (rubbermaids, melamine, heat tape). Easy to make, cheap and pretty durable.

How about lighting. I have seen some designs in the cage design forum, HOWEVER, none of them provided light which I certainly require. Thanks for your suggestions.

Nocturnal lizards, so its not necessary.

If it's for breeding, some leopard geckos will do much better with a light cycle... Sounds stupid since they are nocturnal, but helps regulate their breeding cycle...

You don't need lights inside of clear Rubbermaid bins to create a light cycle. Therefore, you don't need to engineer any special light concerns for your rack when you build it.

You can put the room lights on a timer...

if the room it is in has a window in it then there is plenty of light. if not then you can put the lights in the rrom on a timer. also, though i havn't tried it, you could prbably recess light rope in the bottom of the shelve above so that it is flush with the bottom of the shelve. and then slide the rubbermaids under it and that woyuld provide light.
