it really doesnt look bad to me.. but may have been caused by rubbing against the glass. goto the drugstore and ask the pharmacy for 'betadine' it's like iodine, only weaker..dilute a bit and use a q tip to apply to his mouth, it'l stain, and if any problem should heal quickly.. it doesnt look bad to me at all though.

Yes water, I usually just did 1.1 ratio.... Never worried much, ive used it pure before too, but its always better to be safe.

bandaiding the symptoms is half the battle, now you have to go for prevention. Why was your monitor rubbing its snout against the glass? What does it need that it isn't getting from its enclosure? Looking at the photo you posted on another thread I see few hide spots (two that I could see) and little else. A water dish, a basking spot, two hide spots, substrate too shallow to dig in. Monitors are intelligent, inquisitive animals. They love to explore and climb around, dig etc. They also get bored. Put some more cage 'furniture' in there. Branches, hollow logs, things to dig under and climb over, places to hide.

don't waste your money at the petstore, take a walk to the park its all frozen now, get some hollow logs, some rocks.. stuff like that, dont waste your coin on petstore crap. ALL of my monitor stuff comes from the forest with the exception of cork bark. Although I find alot of dead trees have some real good bark, just bake it for about 30 minutes and it becomes quite hard, and looks nice.

Use your money to stock up on feed :)

You have no wooded areas nearby? Just break a dead log man! its a bit of a skill you need to get use to! haha, remember once your savannah is full grown you wont want to be buying large logs from a pet store.

There is simply no items in this industry that need to be bought at a pet store anymore. I haven't set foot in one for over 5 years. Pet stores is for goldfish and dog toys, NOT reptile furnishings or caging.

well its a reptile pet store...they only have reptiles...nothing else, and they really know what there doing, i was just gonna go there to get some slate and cork bark, thats all they really have anyways

I have to agree with the others. I only get herp vitamins or heating pads or domes, occasionnally a water dish at pet stores. Otherwise, nature man! Well i get cork bark there too though.

I'm with them. I have bought dimming thermostats in pet stores in recent times, that's about it. For cage furniture, I go bush

BTW, Taz looks nice and healthy (with the exception, of course of the snout). Keep up the good work!:D
