Couple of cages that I built over the last couple days. One for a couple of my mice and one for my rats.

sweet I was thinking of donig something like that for my pet rats, put using wood or trim for support and putting in a few levels.

But I agree with mykee, seems like a TON of space for breeders/feeders.

Thanks. I was going to put in some levels, but I like single levels.
I'll be building some more soon, and I will be making then shorter, they are too high right now.

I added your pics for you. Even if you cannot manage to resize them, just post the pics from the "medium" viewing range. The first time you click on one of the thumbnails takes you to the smallest viewing size, second time takes you to full size. Just right click to bring up the "properties" box, highlight and copy the image URL, then in your post, type [ IMG]paste url[ /IMG] (without the spaces) ;)

are these pets or breeders? If they are breeders you want something a little smaller so they don't have as much room to run around in. So you can keep them a little chubby, especially the mothers. Fat (not OVERLY fat) breeders are good.

Edit:

In the second Pic it looks like there is something plugged into the wall right BEHIND the rats (the ones with the white water bottle with the red lid) They can probably reach the cords and chew on them. If you THINK they CAN'T reach the cords, they probably can! And they will chew up EVERYTHING you put near their cage that they can reach! lol :)

same thing with the mice and curtains, you might find that they have found some very pretty nesting materials and that you have lost about half of your curtains! :D

Sapphire Moon!! They are breeders. It just appears to be close, it's about 7-8 inches away from the cage, I think that would be plenty of space between the cage and everything else, if I'm wrong, please let me know(I tend to be wrong a lot:)). I'm probably going to be moving to a much larger house. So I'll be able to move them elsewhere, but for now they must stay there, heh close to everything.

I was aiming for a smaller cage, I didn't want something that was enormous. But I ended up with it anyhow, I might chop this one down and make it in to 2 cages, it's 15" high.

It sounds like it's far enough way, but belive me, if they really want something they will plot to get it, lol. Just becarefull not to knock the cages closer.

I know what you mean with space. I have 3 females and babies in a 50 qt sterilite (it was more rats, but ended up knocking a few off) And the thing is like 3ft long and taller than I would like, but it was cheap so we got it.

We have hardly any room at all for us in there. Can't wait to move, atleast we won't have to have all our stuff in one room, and we will be able to put all our caged animals in a seperate room.

Once we get all settled in once we move, I am hoping we can build a rack for rats. I also hope to do more breeding with rats as they have a "free" paper and they often have unwanted snakes :) that I would very much want!

people give them away all the time. The book is called uncle henry's it is new england based. And most of the things are up in Maine. Free boa's free BP's free corns/kings, and various other snakes.

Your in ontario though, isn't that above like the middle of the US? if it is then you would have a hard time finding it unless you special ordered it. It is a New England thing (maine, new york, massachusettes, new hampshire, Rhode island, etc..etc....), it is in parts of canada though, but I'm not sure. You can go to the website and look at it.

I was thinking of contacting Animal Aide here in St. Thomas, and seeing if they ever get people calling about herps. They accepts cats and dogs, and have a no-kill policy, but I doubt they touch reptiles.

Still, if some of us in the area offer to take in herps for them it might save a few critters. :)
