can I feed two days in a row?

hi, I fed my snake yesterday, but I've been told by a friend that my snake is big enough to eat 2-3 pinkies instead of the one I gave him yesterday, is it safe for me to feed him again today?

my snake is 15g and the pinkies are 2g

Id say wait until next feeding to give him 2 or 3 pinkies, as he has probably allready startred to digest the 1 from yesterday

Wait two more days. If he's big enough to eat 3 pinkies, feed him one fuzzy instead.... That's just what I would do though. :)

I wouldn't feed 2 days in a row. Wait till next feeding. The only way YOU will know if he is big enough for 2-3 pinks is to try it, and if he can take it give him a mouse fuzzy next (or rat pups about the same size! and the rats really "SEEM" to make them grow faster, lol)

I am going against the grain here. There are a few snakes I've had that I had to feed 2 or sometimes 3 days in a row because they were shy feeders who needed to have prey left with them overnight, and there were never any digestion problems. However, 3 pinkies is a total waste of time - move it up to fuzzies. Pinkies are just for getting corns started.

I'm with those that say to move up in prey size. One fuzzie is much better than 3 pinkies.
As for feeding two days in a row, putting fresh food on partially digested food can stress the digestive system. I had a snake regurge onece because of this. I would wait.

Same as Invictus, I feed my snakes 2 to 3 times a week, and sometimes with my schedule I end up feeding it 2 days in a row, my bp's will not eat 2 days in a row but almost all my cornsnakes will eat 2 days in a row.

Of course on the 2nd feeding, I give a little smaller pray since they still have the bigger one from the night before. At the moment, the baby cornsnakes we have eat betwen 2 and 3 week old rats which is pretty good, a few more feedings like that and they switch to a bigger pray.

Hey Siretsap, do you notice your corns growing faster when they are on rats?

Every since we switched our corn over to rats she seems to have grown so much (it's only been 1 month!) I know they can grow pretty fast (when younger), but she seems to have grown like 4-6 inches since we put her on rats.

I sure did! I got an anery last year that was 3 yrs old and 570g when I got her. She's eaten almost exclusively rats and this year she weighs 840g.

I regularly feed my colubrids 2 or 3 days in a row with no problems.

I think it depends on the cornsnake. We have a male that grew like weed on mice and some that don't grow any faster than others on rats. I think it all depends on how much you feed it. I mean if you give 100 grams of rat meat or 100 grams of mice meat, I doubt you will see a difference on the growth of your snake.

well I went from mouse fuzzies to rat pinks (same size and weight) and seen a signifigant growth, like 6-8 inches in less than 1 month the first month she was on them.......It has slowed down, some, but she is still a PIG. I wish she was big enough to take small rats that are refused from my other bp. lol.

thanks for the advice...is there any health benefit or deficit related to feeding rats instead of mice?
