Hey, I really want a frilled dragon. I can't really find a lot of information on them on sites. I will continue searching, but can anyone help me with this. I want to learn as much as possible on them. If anyone knows anything on them or has a good care sheet, please post it. Can someone also tell me how rare they are because I never seen one at a store or a show, that I have noticed. And, about how much money do they go for? Thanks.:D

I cannot say how common they are down in the states. Up here in Canada they are not as common as say a leopard gecko or beardie, but they are not incredibly rare either. We have a pair at work, and I did see some at the show on the weekend, and I know several people that have them. They are pretty good as far as interacting with, and make great display animals as well. They should be provided with climbing/basking branches at different levels in a large enclosure. They should eat mainly a variety of insects, as well as the occasional rodent. I think market price up here is around the $350. Sorry I cannot be of more help, hopefully someone from the US will reply.

Hey MeatMan. You have made an awesome choice, frilled dragons are my lizards of choice! I don't know of any decent caresheets so I will tell you what you need to know.

They love high temperatures, and I keep mine with a basking spot of 120F. They are from areas of high humidity, and therefore misting at least twice daily is necessary. They require large enclosures, and for an adult I would recommend something at least 6' x 4', along with lots of foliage and climbing areas - being largely aboreal animals. Males should not be housed together, however one male with multiple females or multiple females may be housed together. This is to be done with care, and after verifying that there are no major territorial issues. Of course, with multiple frilled dragons comes a larger cage.

Of course, a varied diet is always sought after. I feed mine a staple diet of silk worms, along with the occassional cricket, superworm, and butterworms, along with wax worms for the smaller guys. The bigger ones get the occassional pinky. Some sources suggest that frilled dragons will eat vegetables. I find this to be a complete hoax, as I have not seen nor heard of a frilled dragon who eats anything but 'meats'.

I have found there to be a HUGE difference between WC and CBB specimens. Their temperament differing from the two are at both extremes, where as WC are frisky and jumpy as all hell, and CBB specimens are tame, and quite placid with handling. I would therefore recommend CBB specimens.

They are a very rewarding species. If you could spare the room, I would highly recommend them. If you have any further questions feel free to ask.

120 degree basking spot is way overkill for a frilled. they are not desert dwelling baskers man, drop that basking spot or you will quickly dehydrate your animals.

You basically want 75-85 F ambient temperature with a basking spot about 90-95 F. The bigger the cage the better...but for a hatching you want maybe a 33 gallon tank size about(36x12x20). As it reaches full size you want something that is much bigger and try to give about 4 square feet of floor space as a minimum cuz these guys like to run about the enclosure and climb alot. Make sure to provide UVB to the animal as well. Ummm thats a general outline.
Cheers, Ryan
If you have more questions just post again or PM me.
