Hi everyone. I am looking to acquire a new lizard, and have a few in mind. I was wondering if anyone would like to give me their opinions. Particularly if they keep any of these species. The lizards I am considering are:
Rankins bearded dragon
Collared lizard
Uromastyx
Please, give me your opinions!
What are you looking for in a pet lizard? We can only give you what we personally like for ourselves without knowing what you are looking for in one ;)
All of the above listed are good for handling and a relatively easy to care for. My personal favourite out of them is the Uromastyx, both because of their appearance and temperament, as well as they don't eat insects (well, some people feed them occasionally, but they should be kept on a strictly herbivorous diet IMHO since they do not eat bugs in the wild). Veggies however require more attention to diet to make sure there are not any deficiencies developing.

Id agree, uromastyx rule :) I myself have two and if i had any room id get a massive breeding colony
IMO:
Beardies eat to much, there craps smell horrible and as linds said uro's only eat veggies. The thing you should check before getting a uro is at your grocery store if they have enough of the vegetables you need, or wherever you planning to get them from will have them in stock all year. good luck with whatever you choose

I agree, I've always been partial to the uro's. I guess I'm looking for a friendly lizard that is very hardy and healthy. I also don't like to keep what everyone else has, what is too popular. Which is primarily the reason I am looking at the rankins bearded dragon as opposed to the inland bearded dragon. The rankins is a little less popular. I listed the collared lizard mostly because it is entirely different than any lizard I've kept before. I'm usually a fan of the bulky, slow moving guys. But I thought an aquaflame collared lizard would be different and interesting for me. I'm just not sure at this point...lol.

id say water dragon, but thats just me. i love my babies to death!
i agree with uro, i have a mali, i'v had her for about 2 years, although she came from a horrible home she has been doing great with me, skittish, but good when i get her out of the cage and she loves the summer, i take her out on a lizard leash. but they should be bathed so they can shed easier and will get a chance to drink sence you shouldn't give them water except for the moisture they get from their food.
