Albino and het albino Rosies and Kenyans

Hey everyone,

I've fallen in love albino rosies and kenyans. I already know all this just backing my knowledge up. Im asking all you out there for any info on them. Pricing, lifespans, care, average young after breeding. I will do some reasearch. LOL.

Also, if i were to breed a 100% het to a 100% het i would get 25% albinos and the rest would be 66% or 75% het for albino right? Also, if i bred a 100% het to an albino i would get 50% albinos, and the rest would be 50% or 66% hets right? Thanks.

There is a local petstore that sells albino kenyans for $100 US. On most website that I find the albino kenyans range from $150 to $200.

I have both albino kenyans, and Albino Rosies, the Limburg strain of coastals. The whitewater albino rosies are also in Canada. Rosies produce small litters of large babies. 2 to 5 is the norm.
Kenyans have larger litters, starting at 8 or 10 for young mothers. I have had litters over 20 from old ones.
They both reach maturity at about 3 years, and they can live for 20 years or more.
The husbandry for both are very similar and I keep them in the same rack. Rosies need to be hibernated for 3 months at 55F. Kenyans only need cool evenings through winter but no full brumation

Albino Limburg rosies are about 500US each. Hets are 250US
Albino Whitewater rosies are about half that.

Albino Kenyans are in the 200US range.
Importing both these species requires CITES permits from the country of origin. It's quite difficult to find Americans willing to bother with the paperwork.

Mine should be on line by 05 and in regard to Kenyans I will produce albinos het for anery, anerys het for albino, and normal looking double hets.
There is currently no real domestic supply(in Canada) of either albino kenyans or rosies, but this will change in the next few years

Wow! Thanks stockwell. How do you get your rosies down to 55F? Put them in the fridge?:D My basement's lowest temp is 65F i think. Would i just run some sort of fan by it? Thanks.

I have a separate controlled room for it. They go in with the colubrids from Dec 1 to Mar 15th.
My San Mateaus rosies came out today along with corns and albino Everglades. the rest will come out in a couple weeks
