My pairs and groups of 1.2 go in 4x2x2, but they could totally use 5x2x2.

Hey jeff, whats the commen name for the caudos your talking bout?

Jeff_Favelle

"Caudo" is the common name (well the name that all the herpers use) for Varanus caudolineatus. The other common name is the Stripe-tailed goanna. Here's a few sites with some info:

Hey Jeff, You said you didnt think she'd be in the market for any of those? What do you mean? Are they expensive or illegal to export? They sound awesome!

They look like an animal you would never find of cb's..and if you did they'd probably be like crazy expensive haha. I say you get something other then a monitor unless you have a bigger tank :)

hey reptiguy, Latin rules! It's so much better learning the latin name for animals, as the common names vary so much from area to area and person to person.

caudolineatus is an easy one, as it's descriptive.
caudo = tail
lineatus = lined

oh, and the same goes for Greek names, as many of the scientific names are Greek

Oh they're here. For sure. There's some just down the street from me. But they aren't for your average herper ($$$) and they certainly aren't for someone looking to fill a 20g aquarium with any old lizard, LOL!

Hey Jeff,

Does your "buddy" down the street breed these? I know your saying lots of $$$ but what range exactly? Like $600-1000 for a pair or for one? LOL. So they are here. Do you know any breeders? Thanks.

He's attempting to breed them, yes. I'm pretty sure there hasn't been a single caudo ever born in Canada.

Don't forget, storri are fairly small as well....

They hatched some............actually, John's were going strong for a while. Last I heard a nuber from him it was around 14 I think (that might have been eggs though), but it's been some time since then and now the jerk down the street is trying to control the monopoly ;)
One day I'll make it out to that little island out there and I'll have some plundering to do ;)

Jeff_Favelle
02-25-04, 01:53 PM
ha ha ....nothing to plunder here......just a bunch of legless monitors. You don't want any of THOSE....

:D

It's better than no monitors!
