Help Me Choose My Next Reptile

Hey guys, I need your help. I need a new snake. The problem is, I have a crapload of snakes already! I am looking for something that is somewhat of a departure from all my current reptiles. I considered getting a license and going to some hots, but I decided I could use about 20 years of mentor experience before I make the leap. I am considering a Pine.... What do you think?

What about a retic, or a yellow or green anaconda?

672: Good idea, but my wife forbids large snakes (large being anything over 12ft). I saw a Tiger Retic today that was a real Beauty.

What about a caiman, those are real cool animals, that is of course if you can care for them properly.

Lasher, this is your wife. No caimans either. As for the "girlfriend" as long as she cleans, she can stay (lol)!:D

P.S. For those wondering, there really isn't a girlfriend. He has his hands full with me, and doesn't have the time nor energy to have anyone on the side.

Well, you have a few pythons from the Liasis genus... why not try an Olive python? They are, after all, the "gentle giants" of Liasis. They can get to 14 feet, but seldom do. I think most tend to top out at 8 or 9. You're in the states too... Bob Clark has them, and I'm sure several others down there do too.

How about Spilotes (Tiger rat snake) or a Drymarchon like a black tailed Cribo? They're pretty different. They get to be a nice size and are very active snakes. Just an idea...

Since you have a couple of pituophis already, a pine is going to be much of a departure. How about a blue or taiwan beauty. Beautiful snakes...decent size too. I'll second the tiger rat snake. There are so many nice rat snakes to choose from.

Or, rather than "hot" go "warm". Be the envy of your herp club, and get a vine snake.

This may sound dumb, but maybe you should consider a girlfriend for your beardie. Watching them interact is the most interesting thing. I sit and watch my guys for hours, it's hilarious. You don't truly appreciate how freakin' funny a beardie is, until you get one of the opposite sex....Anyway, I know you're looking for a good hefty snake....but seriously........HIL-AR-I-OUS!!! Plus, you'll get eggie weggs..............that's so exciting! Anyway man, just thought I'd throw in my 2 cents!!

i would say the black tailed cribo or a tiger rat snake as well for snakes
maybe you should try a monitor or a tegu

If it is something new you are looking for... how about a Hognose? Very different from everything you've listed in your collection :cool:

If you're looking for a challenge I'd try some viperboas or manderan rat snakes.

We can't have another Beardie. Our BD is a female and handicapped. She didn't get the calcium she needed from the breeder and she has Metobolic Bone disease. We were told that it was best not to get another BD even if it's a another female. With her being handicapped even another female can pick on our BD. Thanks for the suggestion.
