i feed my boa with tongs and he strikes at it as soon as it touches his nose. i was just wondering, if he gets to used to doing this, will he begin to strike at my hand in thinkin it is food?

Snakes generally know when it is feeding time. I wouldn't go and stick my hand in his face as soon as I open his cage but they have a VERY good sense of smell/taste. Depending on how and where you thaw your feeders, your snake has likely been smelling his next meal fo a few hours. That is why he's rearing to go. :)

As long as your fingers don't smell like prey, you should be fine. If he bites, it will be a defensive action, it's not because he mistakes you for food.
