Hey, somebody I know is moving down to West Viriginia and they have to give away their bp... I might be taking it in but I would like to know as much as I can about them first. Can somebody pls post a link or two to some good Caresheets? Maybe even post some info directly into here? Thanks so much for any help.

Do a search online, or go to your nearest pet store and pick up a book on the captive husbandry of ball pythons. It'll be worth it's weight in gold.

yup, go to www.google.com and put (with the little qutations) "Ball Python Care Sheets" and you will get TONS of info on them. Plus scroll to the bottom of the page and you will find a search bar, do a search for anything you want to know. But here are some basics for you.

hot side 90-95 (usually controlled with a UTH *under tank heater* hooked up to a lamp dimmer or rheostat to keep it at the right temps)

cool side 80-85

humidity- NOT in shed-50-60% when IN shed- 60-80%

LARGE water bowl big enough for it to soak.

NO cedar or pine

2 hides (one on cool side one on hot side)

give it atleast a 2 wk acclimation period, don't touch it, don't open it's cage unless it is to give it fresh water or to clean up a mess. And put it in a low traffic area for this amount of time

IMHO
I do not handle any new snakes for long amounts of time (over 5 min) until they have successfully ate atleast 4 times. ESPECIALLY BP'S since they stress SO easily.

And you might want to find a good herp vet around you. Snakes get sick to. You might be able to find one through www.herpvetconnection.com

Goodluck and do RESEARCH until you are blue in the face. Calm down, and do it again! lol

Thanks a lot for the help! I'll definitely search on google... the reason I hadn't already is because I know there is tons of bad info out there for animals and just wanted to hear it straight from keepers. Thanks again for the replies and the info.

Good for you. Doing the research beforehand is a really smart thing to do.

You are right, there is tons of bad info out there and you will get lots of different opinions from keepers as well. It's best to do lots of reading and figure out what is best for the animal.

Once you have read up a bit, you may have some specific questions. Use the search feature on this site and/or post some questions in this forum. People will be more than happy to answer some intelligent questions.

Good luck.

Thanks for the advice Mike.

Well I decided I'm not going to take it. It's a combination of my lack of time, my lack of funds and my lack of expertise. I don't think I'd be able to care for it. Sorry I wasted your time and thanks again.
