View Full Version : How often...
How often can I feed my beardie (young male) pinkies? He seems to like them, and as of now I'm giving him one every couple months.
Thanks

I wouldn't feed any pinkies to beardies, they are too fat for beardies to consume. Feeding pinkies can lead to fatty liver disese.

I would only feed pinkies if there is an actual need to put on some extra weight.

Oh man, I really don't want to get into this discussion again...
DO NOT FEED PINKIES!
Before recent research, people normally fed pinkies to gravid females to help them gain some weight before they lay their eggs. But now, studies have PROVEN 100% that even day old pinkies have tiny bones in them that can and will cause an impaction, or even intestinal bleeding. There is no reason to take that risk when there are plenty of other suitable food items to feed. Try silkworms, waxworms, and butterworms (only a few butterworms). Silkworms are actually the most healthy thing you can feed a bearded dragon.
Also, Jamie was right... pinkies are VERY fatty, and that DOES lead to liver disease.
So the bottom line... don't feed pinkies, there is no valid point in doing so.
